  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Korean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Cooked white rice or brown rice for serving
  • Optional: shredded carrots, cucumbers, or pickled vegetables

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, gochujang, rice vinegar, honey, and grated ginger. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a splash of sesame oil. Once hot, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Stir in garlic and chopped onion, cooking until fragrant and translucent, about 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the prepared sauce, stirring to coat the beef evenly. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until flavors meld.
  5. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over hot rice with optional shredded vegetables for added texture and freshness.

Notes

  • Adjust spiciness by modifying gochujang amount.
  • Toast sesame seeds before adding for extra nutty flavor.
  • Use freshly grated ginger for more vibrant taste.
  • Serve with kimchi or pickled vegetables for authentic Korean flavor.
