Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound Korean ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons honey or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Cooked white rice or brown rice for serving
- Optional: shredded carrots, cucumbers, or pickled vegetables
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, gochujang, rice vinegar, honey, and grated ginger. Set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a splash of sesame oil. Once hot, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in garlic and chopped onion, cooking until fragrant and translucent, about 2 minutes.
- Pour in the prepared sauce, stirring to coat the beef evenly. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until flavors meld.
- Remove from heat. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over hot rice with optional shredded vegetables for added texture and freshness.
Notes
- Adjust spiciness by modifying gochujang amount.
- Toast sesame seeds before adding for extra nutty flavor.
- Use freshly grated ginger for more vibrant taste.
- Serve with kimchi or pickled vegetables for authentic Korean flavor.
