Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of pre-made croissants (about 6 large croissants)
- 1 cup of whole milk or heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and arrange the croissants evenly across the bottom, cutting into manageable pieces if needed.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the sliced croissants, ensuring all pieces are soaked thoroughly. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard has set. The bake is ready when it puffs slightly and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Notes
- You can use dark chocolate or chocolate hazelnut spread instead of chocolate chips for different flavors.
- Add cinnamon or nutmeg to the custard for extra warmth.
- Using croissants with fillings like almond or raspberry adds a gourmet twist.
- To make it dairy-free, substitute milk with almond or coconut milk.
