Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Lay a cabbage leaf on a flat surface. Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the meat mixture onto the center of each leaf, then roll up tightly, tucking in the sides.
- Place the rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes until cooked through. Serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based meat for a healthier version.
- For a gluten-free option, use cauliflower rice instead of regular rice.
