A simple and flavorful stuffed cabbage roll recipe that comes together in minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Lay a cabbage leaf on a flat surface. Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the meat mixture onto the center of each leaf, then roll up tightly, tucking in the sides.
  5. Place the rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over the top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes until cooked through. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based meat for a healthier version.
  • For a gluten-free option, use cauliflower rice instead of regular rice.
