Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 8 oz (225g) dried or fresh noodles (rice or egg noodles)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce or oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced, for garnish
- Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Thinly slice the beef against the grain and marinate in 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon cornstarch for 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef slices and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté garlic and onion until fragrant and translucent. Add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, and sesame oil; stir to create a sticky glaze.
- Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and add to the skillet with the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet, mixing thoroughly. Cook everything together for another 2-3 minutes to meld flavors. Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
- Use high-quality soy and hoisin sauces for best flavor.
- Ensure thin slicing of beef for quick, tender cooking.
- Adjust sweetness and spice by modifying honey and red pepper flakes to taste.
- Serve immediately with optional garnishes like extra green onions and sesame seeds.
