Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (preferably 80% lean)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
- 4 burger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, onions
- Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise
- Butter or oil for toasting buns
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently without overworking the meat. Divide into four equal portions and shape each into a round patty about the size of your buns.
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until desired doneness. During the last minute, add a slice of cheese on each patty to melt and form a cheesy crust.
- Slice burger buns in half. Toast the cut sides in butter or oil in a skillet until golden brown for added flavor and crunch.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each beef patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Add your favorite toppings and condiments, then top with the remaining bun half.
Notes
- Use high-quality ground beef for flavor and juiciness.
- Avoid overworking the meat for tender patties.
- Feel free to customize with seasonings like smoked paprika or Worcestershire sauce.
- Use fresh buns and toast them for superior texture.
- Add toppings such as caramelized onions, crispy bacon, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
