- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups frozen Tater Tots
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: chopped green onions, extra cheese, bacon bits
Instructions
- Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef or turkey and diced onions. Cook until browned and transparent. Drain excess fat. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until smooth.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the cooked meat mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Pour the creamy mixture over the meat and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Layer the frozen Tater Tots evenly on top of the cheese layer. Ensure they are well distributed for crispy results.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until Tater Tots are golden and crispy. Rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispy Tater Tots, pre-bake or fry them briefly before layering.
- This casserole can be assembled in advance and refrigerated overnight. Bake before serving.
