Ingredients
- 1 (25 oz) package of frozen cheese ravioli
- 1 pound of ground beef or Italian sausage (optional for added protein)
- 2 cups of marinara sauce
- 1 cup of ricotta cheese
- 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and prepare by mincing garlic and browning ground beef or sausage if using.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté garlic until fragrant, then add cooked meat and marinara sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In the slow cooker, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by a layer of ravioli, then dollop with ricotta cheese. Repeat layers: sauce, ravioli, ricotta, finishing with a final layer of sauce and shredded mozzarella on top.
- Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours until ravioli is tender and cheese is bubbly. Do not open the lid during cooking.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit meat and add sautéed vegetables like spinach or zucchini.
- You can use different types of ravioli, such as spinach or meat-filled varieties.
- Enhance creaminess by mixing in a splash of heavy cream or cream cheese into the sauce.
- Add red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning to spice up the dish.
