  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 8-10 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For coating: 1 cup granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • For glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons milk, optional vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar; let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla, remaining sugar, and a pinch of salt; mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Punch down dough and divide into small balls. Roll each ball in cinnamon sugar mixture and arrange in a greased bundt pan.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before inverting onto a serving plate.
  7. Whisk powdered sugar with milk and vanilla to make glaze. Drizzle over warm monkey bread before serving.
