  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 4 medium apples, sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour and cold butter; use a pastry cutter or fingers to create coarse crumbs.
  2. Add cold water gradually and mix until dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. In a skillet, sauté apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla until tender. Let cool slightly.
  5. Roll out chilled dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough, leaving a border.
  7. Roll the dough jelly-roll style or fold edges to enclose filling. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Mix powdered sugar with milk to make glaze, then drizzle over the warm kringle.
