- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 4 medium apples, sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour and cold butter; use a pastry cutter or fingers to create coarse crumbs.
- Add cold water gradually and mix until dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, sauté apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla until tender. Let cool slightly.
- Roll out chilled dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough, leaving a border.
- Roll the dough jelly-roll style or fold edges to enclose filling. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar with milk to make glaze, then drizzle over the warm kringle.
Notes
- Make sure to keep the butter cold for flaky crust.
- You can add chopped nuts to the filling for extra crunch.
