- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar

- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced

- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Make the shortbread crust: Beat softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Mix in flour until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Bake the crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Meanwhile, prepare the apple filling: Toss apple slices with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apples evenly over the baked crust.
- Prepare the crumble topping: Combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apples.
- Bake for an additional 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and apples are tender.
- Allow to cool before slicing into bars. Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Notes
- You can substitute with gluten-free flour if desired.
- Replace apples with pears or peaches for variation.
