  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make the shortbread crust: Beat softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Mix in flour until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the apple filling: Toss apple slices with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apples evenly over the baked crust.
  5. Prepare the crumble topping: Combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for an additional 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and apples are tender.
  8. Allow to cool before slicing into bars. Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
