Discover how to make crispy bacon fried rice, an easy and flavorful homemade dish perfect for quick dinners and meal prep. This recipe combines smoky bacon with fragrant rice and vibrant vegetables for a savory, satisfying meal that everyone will love.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of crispy bacon, chopped
  • 3 cups cooked jasmine or long-grain rice (preferably day-old rice)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by cooking the rice ahead of time and allow it to cool; using leftover rice yields the best texture. Fry the bacon until crispy and chop into small pieces. Prepare all other ingredients for quick cooking.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, then remove and set aside, leaving rendered fat in the pan.
  3. Add diced onions to the pan and cook until translucent. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add mixed vegetables and stir-fry 2-3 minutes until tender.
  4. Push vegetables to one side of the pan, pour beaten eggs into the other side, scramble, then mix with vegetables. Add cooked rice, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil. Stir vigorously to coat rice evenly and achieve slight crispiness.
  5. Fold in the chopped crispy bacon and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Adjust seasonings with salt and pepper. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Use leftover or day-old rice for optimal texture and to prevent clumping.
  • Adjust soy and oyster sauces to suit your taste preferences.
  • For extra flavor, add sesame seeds or chili flakes.
  • Ensure bacon is cooked very crispy to maintain crunch in the finished dish.
  • If cooking in batches, do so to ensure even frying and crispy results.
