- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- Cinnamon sugar for coating (1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon)
- Optional: chocolate sauce or caramel for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook water, butter, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until boiling. Remove from heat.
- Add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then add vanilla and eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth and glossy.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe small strips or bites onto the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Roll warm churros in cinnamon sugar for a perfect coating.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces like chocolate or caramel.
Notes
- For extra crunch, bake a few minutes longer or broil briefly at the end.
- To keep churros crispy, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
- To freeze, cool completely, then store in a sealed bag and reheat as needed.
